Beyoğlu

Beyoğlu, a lovely place on the Istanbul district, Turkish, that’s on the europe side and it’s apart from the old town, the historic peninsula of Constantinople, by the picturesque Golden Horn. In the Middle Ages, this place was known as Pera, which in Greek means “the other side”, a name that lasted until the beginning of the 20th century with the founding of the Republic from Turkey. Today, Beyoğlu is home to a vibrant community of 245,064 inhabitants (as of 2008).

This district encompasses several neighborhoods north of the Golden Horn, including Galata, which was the starting point of the medieval Genoese citadel that gave rise to Beyoğlu, as well as Karaköy, Cihangir, Şişhane, Tepebaşı, Tarlabaşı, Dolapdere and Kasımpaşa. The connection to the old town is through the iconic Gálata and Unkapanı bridges. Beyoğlu is known as the epicenter of art, entertainment and nightlife in Istanbul, and we invite you to explore its lively and exciting atmosphere!
